Summer Baseball Camp

Minnewaska Varsity Assistant Coach Chris Lence offers an opportunity for ballplayers in grades 1-6 to grow their talents on the diamond. This camp will be offered during the month of June, Monday-Thursday.

Summer Opportunities
Please read, discuss, and understand the difference between In-House Summer and Travel League before making your decision.

In-House Summer League

Created to replace Lakes Area League, this league will be held Tuesdays OR Thursdays during June and July. Teams are divided into even teams and will have a brief practice followed by a 7-inning game played against another Minnewaska team. This league is treated as developmental; teams and players will be coached with development in mind. We will not be travelling to other towns to encourage more participation in our in-house league. Parent volunteer coaches will make ANY and ALL offensive and defensive decisions with ABSOLUTELY no outside influence.

Dates/Times:

Starting the week of 6/4, July 4th week off, 7/22 is the last week as a playoffs/tournament week.

5:45-6:15 - Skills and warmup; 6:15-8:00 - game time; no new inning after 8:00 unless there's a tie.

Other information:

  • There are no scheduled night practices, players are strongly encouraged to participate in the Baseball Academy Camp in the mornings. Link to that site is located at the bottom of this page.
  • MSF rules unless stated otherwise (this includes bat rules).

Minnewaska Tournament Travel Teams

  • Practice is held various nights during the week and 5-6 weekends during May, June, and July. Teams are coached to compete in a very competitive manner vs other competitive traveling teams throughout the region.
  • Players are strongly encouraged to participate in the Spring League and the newly formed In-House Summer League to play on this team.

  • Teams will compete with a maximum roster of 12 players. Practice and Scrimmage rosters will have no limit, however competitive game/tournament rosters of 12 will be left to the sole discretion of the parent volunteer coaches, with ABSOLUTELY no outside influence.

    • All offensive and defensive positioning will follow the same guidelines.

  • Players who do not make the 12-player competitive roster may practice and compete in any scrimmage during the summer but must understand they may not travel to any or all of the competitive games.

  • Rosters will not be adjusted based on the request of a parent or ballplayer.

    • This is a key area for parents to help your ballplayer through a teachable moment to influence them to make the season fun, be a leader, and a great teammate.

    • Playing time for our travel teams is NOT equal. Coaches will do their best to make sure everyone understands they all play an important part of the team, but we want to clearly express playing time is not going to be even.

  • Players in their respective age group must not reach the next age before May 1st, 2024. If there is concern about this, please contact Chris Lence
